Henry Jones was born in Pattingham, Staffordshire in June 1880 and was the eldest child of Samuel Jones and his wife Sarah Ann (née Smith). By the time of the 1901 census Harry, as he seems to have been known, was 21 and living with his parents at Daddenhall Hill, Pattingham, whilst working as a carter on a farm (agricultural horse worker). Thomas JONES was born c. 1804 in Ellesmere, Shropshire and died in Pattingham, Staffordshire in August 1853, aged 49. Thomas was born in Ellesmere, Shropshire and Ann in Blymhill, Staffordshire. They married in 1827 at St Peter’s church, Wolverhampton and they had four children: Walter (born about 1827); Emily (born about 1831); Thomas baptised in Pattingham in 1835 and Samuel baptised in Pattingham in 1849.
